Why are blood tests important for my cat’s health?

Blood work can be essential in helping our veterinarians diagnose and treat medical conditions. From pre-anesthetic blood work to senior wellness testing, your cat’s blood can reveal all kinds of facts about their health. Blood work can help us to determine if your pet’s organs are functioning properly and if there are any hormonal issues. Blood work can also help to determine whether a patient has the Feline Leukemia Virus.

How long does it take to get blood test results?

Some results can be available during the same day of your visit, however, if a sample is sent to an external laboratory, additional time is needed to review the results.

How should I prepare my cat for their blood tests?

Please consult with our veterinary team regarding any special requirements.

How often should blood tests be done?

This will depend on the test being run. Your veterinarian will give instructions as to how often testing is required.

Does your clinic perform urinalysis and biopsy?

We sure do. A urinalysis can be run in our laboratory, and also sent out to an external lab if additional testing is required. Biopsies can also be completed in-house, samples are then sent to a surgical pathologist for interpretation.
