What is spaying or neutering?

Spaying is the removal of a female cat’s ovaries and uterus; neutering is the removal of a male cat’s testicles.

When should I neuter/spay my cat?

We recommend spaying or neutering around 6 months of age.

What is the procedure to spay/neuter a cat?

Spaying refers to a common surgical procedure of removing the uterus and ovaries of a female. This helps to avoid heat cycles, potential health issues and unwanted litters. For males, neutering is a surgical procedure to remove the testicles. This helps to prevent potential health issues and unwanted behaviours. These procedures are both done under anesthetic and your pet is required to spend the day with us. Your pet is monitored and kept comfortable before, during and after the procedure by our team of veterinarians, technicians and veterinary assistants.
